Welcome to the Admin Tools Wiki! This is the symbol of a Admin Tools Wiki administrator. It combines the site's "W" in the logo with a mop. Come by and test often!

Hello Original Authority, and welcome to Admin Tools Wiki (ATW)! This wiki is a free environment where anyone can become an Administrator and test the tools without harming real wikis where there are real articles. It is also a place where anyone can practise editing. Here are several pages that can help you with where to begin:

  • Contact us – Centralized directory for contacting the person appropriate to your issue.
  • User help – If you need help with something, and do not necessarily require Administrator/Bureaucrat assistance, this is the place to go. This is the place where community members help community members.
  • Administrator requests – The information directory at ATW. This is the page that directs you to where you need to go depending on the issue at hand.
  • Noticeboard – A place to report problems that require Administrator/Bureaucrat attention. This is also where proposals for new additions to the wiki are placed and you are given your chance to voice your opinion and !vote.
  • Bureaucrats – Bureaucrats are the maintainers of the wiki. They are here to help you. If you need help, you can contact any of the active Bureaucrats for help, as they generally know the most about the wiki. They are also the ones who grant Administrator, bot, and rollback permissions.
  • Requests for rights – The only place to ask to become an Administrator! Just follow exactly the instructions at the top of that page and Bureaucrats will review your request. If they think you won't abuse the tools, then they'll make you an Administrator.
  • Recent changes – A great first stop, because you can see what pages other people have been editing, and where you can help and test.
  • Testing policy – One of our most important ATW policies. It tells you what, and what not, to test on. If you follow it, you will have no problems. But, if you abuse it, a revocation of your rights, and maybe even a block, will occur. So it is very important that you read the policy. This is so that we can keep the wiki running smoothly.
  • Please always sign in every time you edit – This is so that we can recognize you! Also, you’re here to practise with Admin tools: You cannot do that unless you log in.

It's great that you're here, and do come by often to test whatever you would like! That's why you're here, isn't it? You can improve yourself if you practise, and improving yourself will make you an overall better user on any wiki. And again, welcome to the Admin Tools Wiki!

Signature templates

Hi Original Authority and welcome to the wiki! I noticed you created a signature template at Template:Original Authority/sig. At the Admin Tools Wiki we keep personal things in our personal userspace. So, I moved your signature template to User:Original Authority/sig. It still works the same, you just use  User:Original Authority/sig  as the location of your signature instead of  Template:Original Authority/sig. Thanks! — SpikeToronto 01:24, February 23, 2012 (UTC)

At some point you reverted this. I’ve put it back. Also, have you tried inserting your signature in the space provided at Special:Preferences? I think it might fit. If so, then you wouldn’t need to have sig templates all over since the signature box in your preferences is universal across Wikia. Face-smile Thanks!SpikeToronto 11:53, October 23, 2012 (UTC)

Your RfR

Hey OA! You have some outstanding items at your RfR. Face-smile Thanks!SpikeToronto 21:28, June 22, 2012 (UTC)

Don't get you?  Original-Authority
Did you click on the link? I know it’s from months ago — we forgot about it! Face-blush — but PlasmaTime pointed out some required information that you had not done yet. Take another look. Face-smile Thanks!SpikeToronto 21:41, June 22, 2012 (UTC)
Re-Wrote the thing hope you don't mind heck it now Face-smile Thanks!  Original-Authority
You can do whatever you want with it. It fell through the cracks somehow. I’ll make an announcement and tweet about it sometime this weekend. Still, our traffic is almost non-existant these days. Face-sadSpikeToronto 22:00, June 22, 2012 (UTC)
Okay Face-smile Thank you  Original-Authority

Hey OA! There are just a couple of outstanding things on your RfR for you to respond to. Would you please take a look at your earliest convenience? We’d like to go ahead and process your request for TestAdmin, but as long as there is anything outstanding we cannot do so. Face-smile Thanks!SpikeToronto 22:40, July 14, 2012 (UTC)

Talk back templates

Hi Original Authority! It appears you have quite a few talk back templates on your talk page. These templates act as a simple notification that you have a reply or comment on a page that you have participated on. You do have the right to remove these templates as soon as you read them, so they don't cram up your talk page. Just a tip of advice to you. Face-smile --— Plasma (Talk) 16:17, July 15, 2012 (UTC)

Hey Thanks i didnt get round to replying to you as i am on holiday i think im going to remove them when i come home  Original-Authority

Your signature

Greetings. Regarding your signature, it appears that it is lacking a time stamp; as confirmed with this edit. It is usually proper wiki etiquette to include a time stamp for your signature so others may keep track of the time of your post. Thank you. --— Plasma (Talk) 21:47, October 22, 2012 (UTC)

Your RfR: Approved

Congratulations, I have just closed your request for rights as approved and made you a new Testing Administrator. Take a look at the Administrators' how-to guide and the testing policy if you haven't read those already. Also, if you don't know where to begin or test on, taking a look at these suggestions may be useful. If you have any questions or if you need help with something, get in touch on my talk page. — SpikeToronto 10:53, October 23, 2012 (UTC)

I have decided to grant your request to be a testing administrator. Be careful with the tools; they can wreak a lot of havoc. Start off slowly. Also, note the things that have been discussed in your RFR, especially about immediately reverting any tests in the MediaWiki namespace. If you think that the wiki would benefit from such tests being made permanent, then open a discussion on the relevant MediaWiki talkpage making your suggestion. If you have any questions, visit me on my talkpage. Alternatively, feel free to ask any other Active Bureaucrat or Active Administrator. — SpikeToronto 11:02, October 23, 2012 (UTC)

Accidental deletion

Hey OA! This happened because you accidentally pressed the Content FastDelete button. We’ve all done it. One admin has had his talk page accidentally deleted 5+ times! It happens less often now since Rappy adjusted how they load. The trick is not to click on anything until the page you’re looking at has fully rendered, until all the JS has loaded. By the way, and since you’ve expressed an interest, the FastDelete buttons are one of the things we’d like to move to Gadgets. That way, Administrators and Testing Administrators can choose for themselves whether and when they want the FastDelete buttons activated. Face-smile Thanks!SpikeToronto 20:33, October 23, 2012 (UTC)

Yeh, the page rendered and i saw over the hover thing that it said it but didn't notice the Special:/ Part of it, thought it minght take me to a guide on what it means but as soon as I clicked it i relised in the url it said special, I reverted it didn't I? im sure i did anyway..And ill be sure to let Plasma know about that Face-smile Thanks!  Original-Authority 20:41, October 23, 2012 (UTC)

Administrator works

Hi, please don't use the admin note template, as it is only for active admin use, as you are a test admin, as confirmed from this edit. Also, please do not edit the wiki news template, as it is also only to be edit by active admins or bureaucrats, as confirmed from this edit. No worries about any of this, you are still new to the test admin group, and you have well intentions. Thank you. --— Plasma (Talk) 02:23, October 27, 2012 (UTC)

Just to add a note to PT’s comment, in the instructions at Template:Wiki News you’ll notice that even testing admins can report news that they think the community should know. But first, testing admins need to request to make the edit on the Wiki News talkpage using the {{edit protected}} template, which notifies us of the request. If it is agreed that it’s a worthwhile annoucement, you’ll be able to update the news yourself! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. Face-smile Thanks!SpikeToronto 06:39, October 31, 2012 (UTC)

ATW's Twitter feed

Hey OA! Have a look at ATW’s Twitter feed on the Main Page. You’re mentioned there! Face-smileSpikeToronto 06:29, October 31, 2012 (UTC)

Helping with RFRs

Hey OA! As a member of the Admin Tools Wiki community we welcome your participation in RFRs. Two things to remember, though. First, we cannot do anything with an RfR that has yet to be transcluded to ATW:RFR. We assume that it has not been transcluded because he is still working on it (i.e., it’s a draft). (Consequently, I’ve removed your edit.)

Second, once the requestor has transcluded the request, none of us can help him with it. The ability to follow the instructions at ATW:RFR is a test of basic competence. The purpose of the wiki is to provide a safe place for admins, or soon-to-be admins, to practise with the admin tools. Someone who’s already an admin, or soon to be one, should be able to follow those instructions easily. If he can’t, then that tells us he’s not ready. While we’re more than willing to mentor admins and soon-to-be admins with the role of being an admin, we are not in a position to tutor beginners on wiki basics. Correctly creating an RfR — per the instructions at ATW:RFR — is a test of the requestor’s wiki basics.

I really like your eagerness! Face-smileSpikeToronto 10:50, November 2, 2012 (UTC)

Accidental deletion #2

OA, you accidentally deleted Template:Pp-template. Most likely it was an accidental pressing of the spam button while the JS was still be rendered on the page. However, the large deletion summary that appeared at the top of the page afterwards should have alerted you. Anyway, I restored the page. You can see the log here. This particular template is used on ATW a great deal (see Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:Pp-template.) Thanks! — SpikeToronto 03:07, June 28, 2013 (UTC)

Oops! I don't remember that, thanks for reverting the deletion, I need to do something about these buttons, they have a life of ttheir own! Original Authority (talk) 06:46, June 28, 2013 (UTC)
Just be patient while they’re loading! Face-tongueSpikeToronto 07:55, June 28, 2013 (UTC)
I'm going to code another version, well try anyway, when I finish my coding classes, just to give an option to if you actually want to carry out the selected action, and I'll move them or some what, for now I'll keep it disabled. Also I left a message on your talk page before you may of missed it, asking you who's taking care of the gadget's seeing as PlasmaTime retired; cause he was taking care of them right? Indeed I should. I don't know why I didn't think of that! I have the t-shirt and everything! Definatley the next step. Face-grin --— OriginalAuthority 17:31, January 3, 2016 (UTC)
There’s a t-shirt?! Oh man, I’m envious.Face-smileSpikeToronto 20:33, January 3, 2016 (UTC)

How’d things go with that “prevent chat log tampering” abuse filter? Do you get it to work on your wikia? Face-smile Thanks!SpikeToronto 22:59, April 24, 2016 (UTC)

Yes, it's up and working correctly. Did you hear that staff will be discontinuing the ABF? --— OriginalAuthority 18:27, April 25, 2016 (UTC)
I have heard that they are discontinuing Gadgets, but I have heard nothing about discontinuing abuse filters. That would suprise me since they are so heavily being relied upon, and that includes relied upon by Staff and VSTF. — SpikeToronto 18:52, April 25, 2016 (UTC)
Maybe it was Gadgets? I'm not too sure. I know that one of them was being disabled and the whole dev community was thinking about creating their own version of it, but they decided not to. --— OriginalAuthority 18:57, April 25, 2016 (UTC)
Yeah, I’m fairly certain that that was Gadgets.Face-smile I’m the one who kicked up the most fuss about it.Face-blushSpikeToronto 09:23, April 28, 2016 (UTC)

← [reset indent] Yeah, I can see how they're an interesting feature for those users who want to be able to toggle things quickly or if they don't know about importing articles and such. — OriginalAuthority 14:39, April 28, 2016 (UTC)
